How Urgent Computer Care Began |

In 2003, a unique retail store named “Northwoods Computers,” which offered computer repairs, refurbished computers, and electronics recycling, was established and operated as a division of Northwoods Inc. of Wisconsin, a nonprofit corporation that provides work training and community support services to adults with disabilities. All these computer related programs were designed to provide job training and long term employment for people with disabilities who received services through Northwoods. The profits from the computer operations were put right back into Northwoods to maintain its mission of service to the community.
In the world of computers, the market changes constantly. In the past few years, as computers were mass produced in ever growing quantities, their prices have dropped considerably. With this, Northwoods Computers’ retail store lost its competitive advantage when it could not afford to sell good quality refurbished computers for less than the price of comparable new units. As the economy went through the economic downturn in 2009, Northwoods Computers was hurt again as no businesses were in the market for scrap steel, wire, and electronic boards generated from its recycling program. By the end of that year, the only remaining strength of the store was in its solid and reliable computer repair program.
That’s where I come in. My name is Deb Fudaley and I am the owner and chief computer technician at Urgent Computer Care. For the last five years, I’ve been the store manager and computer technician at Northwoods Computers, but that is just my most recent experience in repairing computers. I’ve been working on computers for the past 25 years and I have to say I love what I do.
When Northwoods Computers decided to hang out its “Going Out of Business” sign in February of 2010, they offered, and I was glad to take over, their loyal customer base for computer repairs. As a part of the Northwoods Computers team, I had been instrumental in building a great customer list who were happy with the quality service and repairs they received; repairs that were done as promised, on time, and at a reasonable price.
I am proud to continue the fine service tradition started just across the parking lot at Northwoods. To my new customers and the customers I’ve helped in the past, I can’t wait to give you the best possible service at Urgent Computer Care using my years of experience to expertly remove viruses, replace hardware, reload software, or upgrade your machine to make it work like new.
